Play Gemix Slot Online

Gemix is an iconic slot created by PlaynGo. This seven-reel and seven-row pokie uses a cluster payline system to award wins. It quickly became one of New Zealand’s most popular games, as players can enjoy long win streaks, big wins, and unpredictable spins. Sign up at Christchurch Casino to play the original Gemix for real money.

This title was the first in a series of cluster games. That means creating wins in this title is different to most pokies, as there are no fixed paylines. Instead, you can secure a payout any time by matching symbols in adjacent positions. Once you win, the symbols are removed and new ones introduced. Gemix became so popular thanks to the different levels. There are three separate worlds in this pokie, each with a unique theme and random features. Clearing symbols in certain positions will let you level up and enjoy different mechanics and unique thrills.

How to Play Gemix Slot?

Playing Gemix is a lot of fun, even if you have only experienced traditional online slots. That is because this title offers players the chance to experience new features and settings the more they play the game. While most titles take place in one setting, there are three distinct levels. Each one has a unique random event to add wilds to your reels.

On the right side of the grid is a machine showing the unique World Pattern. Making a win on your grid in the corresponding positions will add one star to your tally. You will get to experience a different world after clearing three World Patterns in one level. This is where you can enjoy different wilds to help you turn an unsuccessful spin into a winner. Plus, every symbol removed from your reels gets added to the Crystal Charge meter. Destroying 20 symbols unleashes one of four random modifiers to help you continue winning. Plus, removing 40 symbols before using a Crystal Charge will activate the Super Charge feature. Before explaining each mechanic in detail, let’s examine how to play Gemix at our online casino for the first time.

• Start with the Demo: We always recommend starting with the demo version of a real-money title. This is the best way to gain firsthand experience before using your deposit. It will let you spin the reels, trigger bonuses, and decide if this pokie is worth playing for cash. While most slots are straightforward, titles with the cluster payline system take time to get used to.
• Open the Paytable: Open the paytable to get up to speed with the level system and payouts. Casino software providers always explain each rule, feature, and mechanic in this section. This is where you can discover how to create a winning combination and how much each icon will return at your current stake. Learning as much as you can will set you up for success when your cash is on the line.
• Use Responsible Gambling Tools: There are many reasons to join our online casino, but one of the most important is our collection of responsible gambling resources. Players across the country know that setting up a budget before spinning the reels is vital. This is why we have a collection of tools to help players maintain control while playing pokies like Gemix. You can set up deposit limits or other restrictions to avoid overspending.
• Choose a Stake: With your budget firmly set and responsible gambling resources used, you can think about your stake. This will determine how much you risk per spin, which is crucial in the long run. Betting small will give you more attempts to land a big win. Betting large is risky and can deplete your budget rapidly. That is why beginners should place a small wager, especially when playing new games for the first time.
• Bonus Features: If you are familiar with some of the most popular games in New Zealand, you will know they often rely on a special bonus round to introduce big wins. However, Gemix became a fan favourite for the exact opposite reason. Instead of including scatters to trigger a feature like free spins, all the big wins can take place during the base game. There is no standalone bonus where players can secure the max payout, as you can win this amount at any time.
• Play for Real Money: With an understanding of how this game works, you are ready to swap the demo for the real version. Doing so will allow you to stake your deposited funds to see if you can land a huge payout. This will let you keep and withdraw your winnings, plus it contributes to our rewards system. Our members can exchange points for prizes, such as free spins to use on any game of their choice. That means you can spin the reels for free while still claiming real payouts using the Players Club.

Gemix is not the only slot in the series. This title first appeared online in 2014, and a couple of sequels have been released since. This includes Gemix 2, a true follow-up that expanded on the original while staying true to the features. Players can enjoy a larger maximum win of 7,500x in this game, over 2,000 times greater than the original.

How to Win on Gemix?

You can win on Gemix by creating a cluster of five or more identical symbols, including wilds. These icons must be touching horizontally and/or vertically to result in a successful spin. Once five or more symbols are identified, they are removed from your reels. If they land on a World Pattern, they leave a gold border behind to let you know a win has occurred at this location.

After the payouts have been awarded, the matching icons are removed from the grid, and existing symbols drop to fill any gaps. New symbols cascade from above, creating a full 7x7 set of reels. This process repeats until no more winning combinations are possible. Each symbol removed counts towards the Crystal Charge tally. Getting rid of 20 in one spin will activate the Crystal Charge modifier to help you continue the win streak. Removing 40 in one spin without activating the charge will give you a 3x multiplier for all additional wins. We will explain each modifier in detail below, but for now, let’s focus on the value of each symbol when staking $1.

• Sapphire: There are eight paying symbols in this game, and the sapphire gemstone is the least rewarding. This rectangular icon pays $0.10, $0.20, $0.30, $0.40, or $0.50 when five, six, seven, eight, or nine appear in one cluster. 10-11 sapphires in adjacent positions return $0.80, and 12, 13, or 14 will hand you twice your bet. Any time 15 or more land in one spin, you will win $7.50.
• Turquoise: Next is the pale blue gem symbol, which pays between $0.20 and $0.80 when a cluster contains 5-9 symbols. 10+ will trigger a $1.20 payout, and 12+ is the same as winning 3x. Creating a payline with 15 or more in one spin will give you $10.
• Pink: The pink square will award between $0.30 and $1 when 5-9 symbols land in the correct positions. 10 and 11 pink gemstones are worth $2, and 12, 13, or 14 will result in $5. Any spin with at least 15 in horizontal or vertical positions wins $15.
• Green: The green pentagon will return half the value of your bet when five appear in a row. Clusters containing 6-9 symbols will hand you at least $0.60 and at most $2. 10+ pentagons will yield $4, and 12+ is the same as winning 10x. 15+ green gems will trigger a win worth $30.
• Orange: Up next is the orange flower, which pays $1, $1.20, or $1.50 when five, six, or seven form a cluster. Eight or nine orange gems will reward you with $2.50 or $5. 10 or more leads to 8x, and 12, 13, or 14 results in $25. If you find 15 of these flower symbols in one valid cluster, you will win 100 times your stake.
• Purple: The purple crescent moon is the next most desirable icon. Locating between 5 and 11 in one spin pays anywhere from $1.50 to $12. If your spin contains 12, 13, or 14 pink moons, you will win 50 times your original wager. Plus, 15+ in a single cluster will reward you with 200x.
• Red: Next is the red heart, which pays at least $2.50 when five are used in a winning cluster. Six to 11 will lead to a payout worth at least $3.50 and up to $15. 12 or more in a row is worth 100 times your bet, and 15 or more results in $500.
• Gold: The most valuable symbol is the golden star. Five will trigger a win worth $3.50, while six leads to 7x. Seven, eight, or nine in a single win will yield $10, $15, or $25, respectively. 10 or 11 in a cluster is worth $40, and 12-14 will pay $200. If you land a win with 15 or more golden stars, you will receive 1,000 times your bet.
• Wilds: Each world has a unique wild, meaning there are three different wild symbols. Each one substitutes for all the symbols listed above, but it does not have a unique value. Instead, it will help you make or extend your winning combinations.

That means no scatter symbols appear in Gemix, which is unique when compared to most online pokies. While many slot machines include a special bonus mode, like free spins or respins, no such feature is present in this title. That gives players a better chance of landing big wins during the base game, unlike jackpot slots, which often hide the biggest wins inside bonus features.

Gemix Symbols and Special Features

There are nine symbols in this pokie, including one wild. This should make it easier for players to land wins compared to other titles. Plus, this slot is part of a select few that offer different levels with unique features. This includes a wild symbol with a mechanic exclusive to each level. These wilds can appear randomly, leading to the first special feature. Below is a summary of each mechanism to look out for when spinning the reels. Some are present on every spin, while others take time to activate.

Crystal Charge

Whenever the player lands a winning combination, each symbol will disappear. These wins add to the Crystal Charge meter, a progress bar that requires at least 20 symbols to activate. Any single spin with over 20 symbols removed results in a Crystal Charge modifier activating. There are four different effects, and each one is triggered randomly.

• Nova Blast: A single symbol is chosen at random to explode, removing a variety of icons and transforming four adjacent symbols.
• Crystal Warp: This changes one set of symbols into another, hopefully resulting in a win.
• Light Beam: One random symbol emits a beam of light both horizontally and vertically. All hit symbols transform into other icons.
• Chain Lightning: Two corner icons are chosen at random, and a lightning bolt strikes a path, changing all affected symbols.

Only one of these features can activate per spin. Win meters like the one in Gemix are common among certain Megaways slots. It maintains the win streak and leads to bigger payouts. If you remove 40 or more symbols in a single spin before the Crystal Charge activates, it will trigger a different special feature.

World Pattern

Whenever you play this pokie, a special icon appears next to the grid on the right side. It has a unique pattern that corresponds to positions on your reels. Landing a win in each marked location will add one star to your tally. Landing three stars moves you to a new world. Each world is a new level with a unique wild, an original character, and a bespoke setting.

World Bonus

This feature is not commonly found in many cluster games. Each time the player lands a win, 10% of the win gets added to the World Bonus. This amount will grow until you fill all three stars and move to a new level. It’s essentially a prize pot you can continue to add to the more times you land clusters.

Gemix Free Spins and Bonuses

While most popular slots at our casino include bonus features, there are none in this game. Instead, a couple of features can combine and deliver an experience like a bonus game. However, Gemix does not include scatters or features like free spins or respins. Instead, it's all about landing win streaks, moving through different levels, and experiencing unique wild symbols.

Super Charge

The Super Charge is the most effective way for players to land bigger wins than any normal spin. That is because this mechanic introduces a 3x multiplier to all wins once active. To trigger this bonus, you must remove 40 symbols in a row without using any modifiers. This is the closest players will get to free spins, as you can enjoy a win streak with higher wins than normal.

World Wilds

To help players land winning clusters, there is a unique wild icon in each level. These symbols only appear on non-winning rounds. A special animation will play to introduce a delightful character. This character will add a random number of wilds to random positions across your grid. You cannot find these symbols during any regular spin.

• Level 1: The first level features a miner who can introduce wild lamp symbols to up to 10 positions in a single spin.
• Level 2: Next is the princess who introduces wild lollies. These icons can spread across the reels to help you secure an enormous payout.
• Level 3: The wizard adds up to eight sticky wilds, which help players land multiple wins from the same spin.

If you have experience playing slots at our online casino, you might recognise some of these mechanics. The most rewarding feature takes place at level three, as this is the hardest area to get to. You will need to clear the World Pattern six times in total to get a single spin at this stage.

Gemix Maximum Payout

4,513x is the maximum payout when playing Gemix. This might not sound like a lot compared to other online slots, but there is a good reason. Players do not have access to a dedicated bonus feature like free spins. Instead, any spin can lead to a big win streak and a large payout. If you enjoy the mechanics in this game but want to play for a larger max win, check out Gemix 2, which has a 7,500x grand prize.

Gemix RTP and Volatility

When playing new games at any casino, take the time to check the RTP and volatility. Gemix is a medium volatility title with a 7x7 reel layout and a cluster payline system. This means players can secure a win from anywhere across the grid, as long as five or more matching icons appear in adjacent positions. Look for other cluster games to experience similar spins.

• RTP: 94.78%
• Volatility: Med
• Paylines: Cluster Pays
• Reels: 7
• Rows: 7
• Release Date: 2014

While many popular games have a cluster payline system, they will not provide the same experience as this title. The best way to tell what a game is really like is through the demo. This lets you spin the reels without using your deposited funds. You can play for fun and then decide whether this title is worth the risk.
